Woohoo it’s almost Friday!

This week has been so long!! I’m so ready for the weekend! Monday I was one my feet ALL day for my first day of my clinical rotation. It was a little tough getting back to it after being off for summer break, but it eventually all came back to me. I did get a great compliment from my instructor, she thought by the way I was dealing with my clients that I worked in the health field (I don’t, I’ve never done anything nurse/medical related until I started nursing school).  She told me I seemed confident and organized and that I managed my time well (this was all news to me, since I felt the complete opposite!) It’s always nice to have people tell you that you’re doing well, especially when you don’t think you are. Tuesday was the day my Runkeeper app lost its mind, but I still had a great walk. Today I went to the gym after class and got on the treadmill for an hour. I wasn’t going to work on my running at all today because I really wasn’t feeling like it, but I decided to anyway and I ran nonstop for 8 minutes (longest time yet) and then walked a little while and then ran again for 5 minutes. It’s getting a LITTLE easier, but I definitely wouldn’t say that it’s EASY! I hope that it does get a little bit better, and I really want to get to the point where I feel like my day isn’t complete unless I run. I’m working on it!! I’ve been doing pretty good with my eating this week. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect, but it’s better than it has been.

Head over to BexLife and check out the awesome giveaway she is having for some Spanx! Also, check out her site, I think it’s pretty awesome! Also, the ladies at Naturally Fit Sisters are having a 15 day birthday celebration giveaway! A new item is added every day, and you can go back to the previous days that you’ve missed and still enter. If you check out either site, let them know that Stacy from Working on my Fit sent you!! 🙂 I know there are a lot of giveaways on Facebook/blogs and I’ll try to share some with y’all when I can.

I got these in the mail today:And I’ll be doing a review on them after I use them. One thing I can say already is they don’t smell great! I definitely won’t be chewing them when I take them!! Check them out on Facebook – Energybits and let them know I sent you!

I’m hoping to have my first giveaway soon, but I don’t have all of the details yet so you’ll just have to come back to find out about it! 😉

Well I hope you all have a happy Thursday and a great weekend! Let’s all stay active!

Back on track!

Back to exercising and eating better and I feel much better. I didn’t workout for a few days while I was letting my leg heal, but it feels much better now and I’ve been back at it! Sunday I went for a walk and it was sunny, and HOT with no wind! Today’s walk was better because there was a nice wind to cool me (a little)! For some reason my Runkeeper app decided to have a brain fart today (yes I’m aware of the fact that my iPhone apps don’t have brains, but it’s the only explanation I could come up with). I walked the same distance and just a few minutes longer and Sunday it told me I walked 3.62 miles and today it told me I walked over 5.46! It kept telling me that I was walking 1 mile in five minutes. I’m not sure what happened but it was working fine at first.

Weird!!

Yesterday I got these in the mail from Michelle at Mind, Body, and Goal (check out her FB page and LIKE LIKE LIKE, tell her Stacy from Working on my Fit sent you!!):

I can’t wait to give them a try. Think I’ll try the Abs, Buns and Thighs tonight. I’ll let you know what I think, I’ve only ever done Zumba in a class (which I LOVED) so I’m hoping I love this video just as much. Stay tuned! 🙂

Exciting news, I found out yesterday that I won a Handana from Run Find Your Happy Pace. You can check out both of their Facebook pages here – Handana and Run Find Your Happy Pace. Go check out their pages (NOW!!!) and let them know that Stacy from Working On My Fit sent you!!

Friday I start Weight Watchers and I can’t wait! I’ll be talking all about it!

Hmmm

Here’s how my day went:

Breakfast – Jack in the Box breakfast jack (I know, fast food is BAD!! please don’t yell at me yet!)

Lunch – Mexican, with chips and salsa (again, don’t start yelling yet)

Snack – Pumpkin swirl cheesecake from The Cake Stand (okay you can start yelling, but really it was worth it)

Supper (prepare to really start yelling) – my husbands piece of cake from The Cake Stand because he said he didn’t want it.

Again, I wasn’t going to blog about this because it’s not anything to be proud of, but this site is about accountability and I can’t come on here and pretend that I’m doing this all right. I’ve been working on my fitness journey for 2 years and sometimes (like today), it’s really a struggle. I think it’s important to be honest and show you all that I make mistakes and bad choices. BUT the important part is I’m not going to give up just because I had a bad day. I’ve had plenty of bad days, that’s why it’s taking me so long to get to my goal, and that’s why I’m going to join Weight Watcher’s so I have the extra accountability and motivation to stick to my healthy living and to get to my goal. My question for y’all is, do you find that it’s harder to make healthy food choices when you don’t workout? That’s how it’s been for me, if I’ve worked out I don’t want to “mess” it up by eating wrong, but if I haven’t then I’m not as strict about my food choices. So what does that mean, I need to workout so I make better food choices. And also, I’ve learned today that I’m not going to eat cake for a while, since now I feel like CRAP and sugar sounds disgusting to me right now. I need to remember this feeling the next time I think I need to eat cake for supper!

Unfortunately, my leg still hurts, but now it just feels like a sore muscle. Tomorrow I hope to try to run again. We’ll see how that goes. Oh and someone needs to remind Mother Nature that tomorrow is fall! I am tired of the 90+ degree days!! I want to get back outside to walk/run!

Here’s my Friday motivation for you and me! 🙂

Wow I’ve been busy

It feels like all I’ve done the past three weeks is STUDY!! I have exercised most of the time except I took 4 days off this past week, from Thursday to Sunday. I’ve had 5 tests in the first 4 weeks of school! One clinical readiness exam, one math test, a skills check off, and 2 lecture tests! It’s been CRAZY!! Luckily I have 3 weeks until the next test, and clinical starts next week, so that gives me another free day that I don’t have to be at school. My clinical day is going to be a LONG one, 0630 – 1900 every Monday so that is going to be my “rest” day, even though I’ll be on my feel all day!! But I’m not complaining because every day I’m getting to my goal of becoming a nurse!!

I got some good walks/runs in this week. Here is yesterdays:

Monday’s walk/run

It was so nice outside, and it flew by, it didn’t even feel like an hour! I ran some and my legs didn’t really bother me too much,  and I did sweat pink!!

Post walk Monday!

Today’s walk was even nicer than yesterday’s! We had a cold front come through last night so the humidity was gone and I had a nice north wind! Here’s todays walk:

So close to 4 miles!

So after todays walk, I’ve set a new goal for myself, 4 miles in less than an hour. I did run some today, but I started getting a pain in my lower left leg which made it hard for me to even finish my walk so I didn’t get much running in today. I did ice it when I got home and I plan on running some more on the treadmill at the gym Thursday after class. Oh and did you notice my Bondi Band in my self portrait?! I just love that thing, it keeps the sweat from rolling down into my eyes, which is awesome! Check them out! I’m ready to order another one!!

My eating habits haven’t been great so that brings me to my next decision. I’m considering joining Weight Watchers (again). That last time I joined, I lost 50 pounds in the six months that I was on it. It really helped to keep me accountable and made me think about what I was eating before I ate it. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to join for at least 3 months just to see how it works out for me. So I’ll probably be adding some WW friendly recipes to the blog once I get started. Let me know what y’all think about WW, good or bad.

One last thing I’ve done lately is a couple of weeks ago my in-laws celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal. We had such a great time, and I love spending the time with all of the family! There are a lot of people on my hubby’s side of the family, and almost all of them were there, so it was great to spend the weekend with all of them. Also, I got a lot of compliments on my weight loss, which always makes me feel good about what I’m doing. It was a wonderful weekend!

Well I think that’s all I’ve got for now! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week! Stay active!!

Wednesday blah…

It’s been one of those days. It’s my day off of school and I should be studying for a test and practicing for a check-off and all I’ve wanted to do is sit here and watch the 16 episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 that are on my DVR. Plus, I’ve been making terrible food choices today, like McDonald’s french fries for supper. I know that it’s just one day and I can make it better tomorrow, it’s just got me down a little bit. I did get a quiz done for my online art appreciation class, and I went to an awesome Zumba class this morning, but in between there I haven’t done anything. All I’ve felt like doing lately is sleeping, it seems like I’m always tired. If this doesn’t change soon, I may have to see a dr. Hopefully, I’ll get over this soon without the need of a dr. I guess I’m just in a funk today, and it’ll be better tomorrow. I wasn’t going to post today since I didn’t have much positive energy coming from me, but I decided that I couldn’t just post when I’m doing things “right”, this blog is all about the good and the bad times of a weight loss journey. We all have days like this, when it’s so much easier to revert back to the negative habits that we had before. The best thing I can do now is get up tomorrow and get back into the good habits that I’ve started. One bad day can’t undo the 83 pounds that I’ve already lost. So I will probably sit here and finish up some more episodes of 90210, maybe get off my butt and do some stretching and know that tomorrow will be better.

I did have one exciting thing today, I got my Sweat Pink swag! Super excited about that and can’t wait to represent this awesome community!!

Awesome tank and pink shoelaces!

Shoes are pinked out and ready to go!

There are a lot of giveaways on Facebook right now. If you are my friend or a fan of my FB page I try to share them as often as I can so everyone can have a chance to win. I also tweet about them when I can so you can follow me on twitter too!

Busy weekend!

I didn’t have time to do anything this weekend. My in-laws celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal and it was a weekend full of family time, which I LOVE!! I’m still exhausted today, and happy that I only went up a half a pound. I’m glad to be back to my routine. Today was week 1 day 3 of couch to 5K, which means tomorrow I’ll be running for a minute and a half instead of one minute. I can’t wait to increase my running time. Here’s what I had to eat today:

Breakfast – Natural Peanut Butter, honey and cinnamon on wheat bread

Snack – Peanut Butter Quest Bar

Lunch – salad

Dinner – turkey sandwich and combos.

Snack was a few different things that were offered at quilt guild tonight, but I made sure not to eat too much.

Most of my food choices were good today. My workout was an hour on the treadmill (3.6 miles) which included the C25K, some upper body strength, and 20 minutes on the bike.

I wonder if anyone has this issue when they are working out. I hate to have an odd distance like 3.58, or an odd time like 60:28. I want everything to be “complete” so it was hard for me to not keep going on the treadmill because I got my distance to 3.60, but my time was at 60:33. I almost went another 5 minutes to see if they would both be at a “complete” number. Kinda makes me feel a little crazy, but it does push me to go a little bit further! Does anyone else do this?

I was asked tonight how I’ve lost the weight that I’ve lost so far. People sure do seem disappointed when I tell them “exercise and eating healthy”. I think people are still looking for the easy way. Then when I told her that I love to exercise now she wanted a secret to how that is possible too. I told her, “you just keep pushing yourself to do it”. I think that it truly is an attitude change that is needed by most people. If you keep telling yourself that you hate to exercise then you’re never going to do it, but if you just tell yourself that it has to be done and don’t give yourself the choice of doing it or not, it is really much easier. Don’t think about it too much, just know that it’s what has to be done to get to where you want to be. When I’m going to the gym, or to a class, I don’t think about making myself go, I just go, not going never crosses my mind. Every day is a struggle for me with food choices, and that is the thing that I still have to work on, but I know that I can do it and it is important enough to me that a majority of the time I will make the right choices.

Finally, I’ll leave you with some motivation! Always take it one day at a time!

Just a quick post

Because I need to get back to studying for my second test of the week. I’m excited that I was chosen as a Sweat Pink Ambassador! I got the email today!! It’s exciting to be a part of such a large group of people who are at various stages of their journey to get/stay healthy, and I’m excited to have the motivation. I got a good workout in today. Week 1 day 1 of Couch to 5K (yes I had to start over AGAIN!), plus a little extra walk to get to 45 minutes on the treadmill, I did the weight circuit at the gym, and then 45 minutes on the bike. I’m so glad to be back to exercising!! Also, I did wear my Sweaty Band, and my Marika pants and I must say they were both perfect. The band never moved, and the pants weren’t too hot. I know I was inside, in air conditioning, but it was over 100 degrees here today, which means it’s still hot, inside and out, and I never once got too hot in the pants. I need to get back to studying now, I’ll try to post more tomorrow!
